John Emanuele aptly describes his artistic method as “eclectic.” The bulk of his extensive body of work consists of illustrations that combine elements from various animals to create whole new species. These imaginative creatures are entirely unique and are then transformed into paintings and sculptures. His images simultaneously reference scientific illustrations of animals and Dr. Seuss’ characters. This duality only adds to the intrigue of his immediately captivating imagery. John has lived his whole life in Columbus, Ohio, and he is very close with his family. John is an only child and talks honestly about the perks of his childhood saying that he got “all the presents”. It is hard to believe that John has only been making art since he came to Open Door since in a very short time he has developed a very interesting artistic approach.Learn more about John’s nonprofit Open Door Art Studio here.
